– We make sheet music of great music

– We make really good sheet music

Promethean Editions was established in 1997 with the mission of bringing the fire of new, fresh and exciting contemporary music to performers and audiences throughout the world.
We aim to publish editions that are of the highest possible quality so that our products will be something that you will treasure for a lifetime.

Our editors strive to ensure that our performance editions communicate the composer's musical intention with clarity and ease.
We follow this same approach with our scholarly editions too; working to balance the tradition of a critical edition with the demands of modern performance standards.

Our repertoire catalogue features music that is highly original, infused with melody and energy, by emerging and established composers from Aotearoa/New Zealand, Canada, England and the US.
Our catalogue also features works of historical importance to preserve the legacy of New Zealand composition.

The Promethean Edition is our flagship series for the adept and professional musician.
This series includes music that often features an exciting fusion of different musical styles. Looking outward from the Western classical tradition, our composers broaden their stylistic horizons by partnering the traditional with the modern – or ancient – to create challenging, exciting contemporary classical works.

PROMETHEAN EDITIONS is synonymous with percussion music, we specialise in cutting-edge works for percussion.
Our catalogue includes standard percussion repertoire, including Farr's Kembang Suling (PE001) for flute and marimba, Psathas’s Matre’s Dance (PE027) for percussion and piano, and the adrenaline-fuelled solo work One Study One Summary (PE087) for marimba, junk percussion and digital audio by Psathas, and Haztsis' evocative Fertility Rites (PE101) for marimba and digital audio.
